Tony McCart Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Husband. Father. Papa. Son. Brother. Friend. Tony McCart 1962-2024 Tony McCart, age 62, passed away at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee on Sunday, February 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Tony was born on January 25, 1962, to Richard Schopp and Carolyn Curtis. Growing up, he attended Eastmont elementary schools and was a member of the Eastmont High School graduating class of 1981. Tony was a talented athlete during high school. He received his varsity letters in football, baseball, golf, and tennis. After graduating, he moved to Spokane to attend Spokane Community College’s heavy equipment program. In addition to his studies, Tony found the time to participate on the college’s golf team. On April 14, 1984, Tony married his junior high sweetheart, Karen Rich. They are the parents of three children; Nicole born in 1988; Ashley born 1991; and Megan born 1995. He worked hard to support his family, first as a heavy equipment mechanic and later by fulfilling his dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Tony and Karen’s first business was a bike and ski shop. Then, in 2011, they became independent contractors for Fed Ex Ground until they sold their business in 2022. Tony was a dedicated family man. His priority was always Karen and his daughters. He shared his love of athletics with his girls and cheered them on in soccer, dance, softball, or whatever they set their minds to. Tony was an ardent skier, working with the Buddy Warner Ski Program for many years. He inspired his daughter, Ashley, to also get involved as a ski instructor. He loved being Megan’s soccer dad and traveled to her games across the state and country from middle school through college. Tony was also an avid cyclist. He was the captain of the tandem bike, with Karen as the stoker, in the Seattle to Portland ride for many years. In 2021, his first grandson, Jackson, was born, and Papa became his new favorite name. Jackson was Tony’s pride and joy, and the two shared a special bond. Tony is survived by his wife Karen, daughters Ashley Allen (Braden) and Megan McCart (Bradley Riggs), grandson Jackson Allen, all residents of East Wenatchee; brothers Randy McCart (Karen), Chris McCart (Tera), and sister Terri (Gary); stepdad Ernie McCart; mother-in-law Joyce Rich; brother-in-law Ryan Rich (Laura); nieces and nephews including Special Nephew Reece Rich. Tony is preceded in death by his daughter Nicole Marie McCart who passed away in 1999 and his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Tony’s celebration of life will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Wenatchee First United Methodist Church. Graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park immediately following. Arrangements are by Heritage Memorial Chapel. Thank you, Anna Wilson, and the other caregivers at Highgate for taking special care of Tony during his stay.
