Ray L. Toll

Ray L Toll, 99, died at Confluence Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee, WA on September 13, 2024. the cause of death was a heart that had worn out. Ray was born May 17, 1925 on Tahoe Ridge near Kooskia, Idaho to Willard and Daisy (Gresham) Toll. He graduated from Molalla Union High School in Molalla, Oregon in 1943 and was able to attend and enjoy his 80th class reunion in 2023. After high school he entered the US Navy being discharged in 1946. Went to Oregon State College (now University) graduating in 1949 with a degree in Agriculture. On January 15, 1950 he married Barbara Wicks in Molalla, OR. Ray’s work career was for one employer, the US Department of Agriculture, Farmers Home Administration who he worked 35 years for in Oregon and primarily Washington states. Along the way came children, Larry in McMinnville, OR in 1950, Susan in Ephrata, WA in 1953 and Craig in Moses Lake, WA in 1954. In 1957 a move to Wenatchee, WA would be the last move and he still lived in the house they purchased in 1957. Dad always enjoyed his sports (Beavers, Mariners, and Seahawks), following his children activities as they grew up, camping up at the Wenatchee River property, and going south for the winter after he retired. He had hobbies of stamp collecting, genealogy, working puzzles (jigsaw, sudoku, word find and crossword) and puttering around the yard. Ray is survived by Larry (Carmen) Toll in The Dalles, OR and Susan (Robert) Johnson in Sutherlin, OR, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild and daughter-in-law Pam Duck in Wenatchee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, and son Craig. ALL THINGS IN MODERATION The family wishes to thank the staff who attended Ray at Confluence Central Washington Hospital for their attention during the last 3 weeks of his life. Although weakened by heart issues he was still mentally sharp. He liked talking to the staff and finding out about them. The family would also like to thank the 800 block of Yakima Street neighbors who have socialized with Dad and taken him as family, watching out for him. He always spoke highly of his neighbors and the things they helped him with. Memorials may be made to your favorite charities, the Molalla High School Alumni Association, Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1050, Molalla, OR 97038, or Amaranth Diabetes Fund through Wenatchee Court #11, Masonic Center, 811 N Chelan, Wenatchee, WA 98801. A service will be held at Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee, on October 26, 2024 at 10:00am. A burial will be held later at Adams Cemetery, Molalla, OR, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 10:00am where Ray will be placed next to Barbara.
