Joel Peter Williams

Joel Peter Williams, age 71, passed away due to melanoma cancer at 11:45pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Joel, one of ten children, was born in Yakima Washington on February 8, 1944. He was the fourth child born to James and Myrtle Williams. The family moved to Renton, Washington in 1948 when he was 4 years old. As a young boy Joel enjoyed working on the family farm feeding the cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits. He attended elementary school at the Honeydale Elementary in the Renton Highlands. For Junior High School he attended McKnight Middle School. He attended Renton High School for his Sophomore Year. Then he was asked by Merlyn and Opal Olson to move to their farm in Enumclaw to help with the chores. He finished his High School years and Graduated from the Enumclaw High School in 1962. While in High School he was on the Wrestling, track and football teams. After High School Joel moved to Chelan, Washington and worked on the apple orchards for a few years. While living there he met Pat Robison and they were married in Chelan in September 1966. They both attended and graduated from the Pentecostal Bible College in Vancouver B.C. After Bible College he accepted a Pastorate position in Yakitat Alaska. Their Son, Michael was born in Palmer, Alaska Dec. 23, 1972. When Michael was young they moved back to Chelan. In the early 80's his marriage was dissolved. Over the years Joel enjoyed playing golf and running in many marathons. He and his family enjoyed spending time together hiking and camping and playing board games. While living in Chelan he met Therese Render and in Oct. of 1989 they married in Wenatchee, WA. They lived and worked in Chelan for over 30 years. They raised two sons, Nathanial and James in Chelan. Joel worked for the Chelan School District for 40 years as a custodian and retired in June 2014. While working there he enjoyed traveling to many after school sports games and acting as a statistician for the Lady Goats staying up long hours into the night. After he retired he moved to Yelm, WA in Aug. 2014. Joel was preceded in death by his Father, James M. Williams and his Mother, Myrtle L. Williams. He is survived by his Wife, Therese of Yelm, WA., His Son, Michael (Chrissy) Williams of Port Orchard, WA., Step-Son, James Durham of Seattle, WA, and Step-Son, Nathaniel Render of Minneapolis, MN, Granddaughter, Kaylin and Grandson, Tysin of Port Orchard, WA. He is also survived by 4 Sisters: Juanita (Mervin) Olson of Spokane, WÅ, Joyce (Dale) McMillan of Renton, WA., Diane Fant of Federal Way, WA., and Lynette (Alan) Johnson of Thailand. And 5 Brothers: Jim (Carolyn) Williams of Colville, WA, John Williams of Vancouver, WA, David (Diana) Williams of Colville, WA, Dan (Rainie) Williams of Renton, WA, and Darrell (Becky) Williams of Touchet, WA and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
