Helen L. McKee

Helen L. McKee, 86, a 81 year Wenatchee area resident, passed away Thursday night, May 5, 2011 at Colonial Vista Care Center, following an extended illness. She was born on January 2, 1925 in Wenatchee to the late Jesse and Emma (Link) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Wenatchee and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1943. She went to work at Interstate Telephone Company and later worked at a fruit company in Wenatchee. She met H. Fahy McKee at church and they were later married on September 1, 1950 in Seattle. They made their first home in East Wenatchee prior to moving to Seattle in the fall of 1952. They returned to make Wenatchee their permanent home in June of 1957. Helen worked at Betty Lohr's Gift Shop and later worked for a short time at the Chelan County Treasurers Office. She settled in as the bookkeeper for her husband's milk delivery route. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and was a member of King's Orchard Church of Christ. She had been a Sunday School Teacher for both adult and pre-school classes. She was a Pink Lady Volunteer at Central Washington Hospital for over 17 years. Helen enjoyed Tole Painting, baking bread, beach combing, collecting agates, digging for razor clams and loved gardening. She is survived by her husband, H. Fahy McKee, Wenatchee; three step-sons, Michael and his wife, Linda McKee, Wenatchee, Terence "Tery" and his wife, Anita McKee, East Wenatchee and Kendall "Bruce" McKee, Port Townsend, WA; one step-daughter, Nancy and her husband, Tony Austin, Riddle, OR; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Jim Miller, Wenatchee; one brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Sharley Anderson, Wenatchee; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one step-son, Brian Baird McKee in 2004 and one infant sister, Emma Jean Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at King's Orchard Church of Christ, 1610 Orchard Street, Wenatchee, with Dale Linge, Minister officiating.
