Harry Rudolph Hedlund

Heaven welcomed Harry Rudolph Hedlund Jr. (a.k.a. Dad), 87 years old, on November 7, 2022. Dad had valiantly battled cancer for quite some time. Dad was born in Seattle, WA to Harry Rudolph Hedlund Sr. and Dorothy Hedlund (Furst) on May 20, 1935. He was the firstborn of 4 children. His sisters are Karen Burkebile (Dave), Janis Olsen (Melvin), and Sandra Hedlund. He was raised in Edmonds, WA, graduating from Edmonds High School. He was a leader in Future Farmers of America and he also began a car club called Scanners. He loved cars and had some that he wishes he had kept, such as a 1953 Ford convertible with a Continental Kit on the back. He also, as his last motorcycle, owned a beautiful Harley Davidson. Dad worked for a radio station in Seattle, often up in the helicopter doing live traffic reporting. He worked in the bread industry both in the facility as well as delivery. Dad lived a good portion of his adult life in Port Angeles, WA. Many children were fortunate enough to have him as their school bus driver. He also drove for the transit system there. Prior to becoming a bus driver, dad worked in the paint store industry, at one point owning his own paint store in Bellevue. He is survived by his 3 daughters Terri McFadden (Guy) of Ellensburg, WA, Gerri Hedlund of Smokey Point, WA, and Diana Owens (Craig) of East Wenatchee, WA and their mother, Jacqueline Farra of Ellensburg, WA; 3 granddaughters, Nina Hogan of Lynnwood, WA, Jamie Hedlund of Seattle, WA and Marissa McFadden of Ellensburg, WA and 1 grandson, Mitchell McFadden of Ronald, WA. He also leaves behind nieces Cindy Satero and Sunny Olsen, nephews Kevin, Jeff, and Chris Burkebile, 7 great-grandchildren, 6 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews, and 1 great-great nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorothy Hedlund. One of his great talents was his ability to sound EXACTLY like Donald Duck! He had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed dancing, shooting pool, and throwing darts and was VERY GOOD at all of these fun activities. One of his favorite sayings was "Good Night Shirt!" He enjoyed watching all sports, especially in a good sports bar, Football, Baseball, Nascar... He also thoroughly enjoyed watching Bob Ross' painting shows, food shows, heavy towing shows, and gold mining shows. Over the last 9 months of his time with us, I was blessed with the ability to spend quality time with him watching our favorite show, Wheel of Fortune, along with some other shows. He and I would have been a team to deal with had we ever been on Wheel of Fortune as participants. WE WERE THAT GOOD! Dad was a member of the Moose Lodge in Port Angeles, WA where he has many, many friends who love and miss him. He was a great man, a wonderful father and a gentleman to the end. He will be forever remembered as "Boy Kid". A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the Spring of 2023. We are working on having it on his Birthday, May 20, 2023, in Port Angeles, WA.
