Everett "Marshall" Roberts

The family of Everett Marshall Roberts reflects with great fondness and love on a life well lived. E. Marshall Roberts was taken to his eternal home in glory on June 26, 2026. He was born to Alice Lillian Lisec Roberts on July 5, 1930, at Wenatchee Deaconess Hospital. A lifelong resident of Wenatchee, Marshall graduated from Wenatchee High School and Wenatchee Valley College before earning an engineering degree from the University of Washington. He missed his 96th birthday by just a few days, but the years before were richly lived alongside his precious wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Ann Paton Roberts of Lake Wenatchee and Wenatchee. She preceded him in death in July 2022. Their marriage was special; they adored one another. She called him her "one and only," and he lovingly referred to her as "my beloved." Married in 1953 at Wenatchee Presbyterian Church, they went on to have three children, all of whom survive them: Randall Paton Roberts of Wenatchee, WA, Kim Aline Roberts of Yakima, WA and Priscilla Ann (Roberts) George of Richmond, VA. He was also “The Papa" to eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was being surrounded by their presence and laughter. He would often say, "The best noise in the world is the laughter of my grandchildren." Marshall had many passions in life; the list is long. He flew airplanes, built sailboats, and could build or repair nearly anything he put his hands on. He had a brilliant mind for science and electrical engineering. Marshall worked for Boeing during the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s, where he served as chief engineer on projects including the Lunar Rover, the Lunar Orbiter, Minuteman missiles, and his favorite aircraft, the Boeing 727. He also had a deep love of travel and toured the globe for both work and pleasure. He and our mother made precious memories with many friends and family members in different parts of the world, always looking for the blessings in each day. As a boy, he was an Eagle Scout and loved playing with trains. After church at Calvary Bible in Wenatchee, he would walk to a little store and buy a Cho-Cho ice cream bar with the small amount of money he had earned selling newspapers for the Wenatchee World, a job he began at the age of five. His love for ice cream never faded, nor did his fondness for whipped cream, homemade coconut cake and lemonade. In 1971, he and his family moved to Southern California, where he worked as a film producer for documentaries and short films for both a scientific film production company and Walt Disney. Later, in the late 1970s, he became a building administrator and associate pastor at a large church in Whittier, California. His final career was working alongside his best friend at a large printing company. After retirement, he and our mother returned to Wenatchee, WA where they both lived in town and at Lake Wenatchee. He also spent twelve years of retirement in Richmond, VA, near his daughter, Priscilla and granddaughters. There, he owned a small farm and built a large woodworking shop, where he crafted hundreds of special pieces for family and friends. His life would not have been complete without his deep relationship with his Lord and Savior. He was gracious and kind to everyone he met, and the love and servantheartedness he demonstrated were an example to all who knew him. In his final days, when asked how much he still read his Bible, he smiled and said, "I still open it up, but most of it I have memorized." We will miss his faithful prayers for each of us. Every evening he prayed aloud, often spending more than an hour in conversation with the Lord. Extraordinary love and faithfulness are how he will be remembered by all of us who knew and loved him. We rejoice in knowing that he is now with his beloved wife, cherished sister Elaine, brother Frank and all those who have gone before him. The celebration in heaven has only just begun, and we are certain there is plenty of coconut cake and ice cream.
