Darlene Fern Stannard

Darlene, 88, Wenatchee, went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 14, 2016, after an extended illness. She was born Darlene Fern Tennancour on November 3, 1927 to Charles and Violet (Nelson) Tennancour in Columbia Falls, Montana. In 1942 the family moved to Olney, MT as her father was a section foreman for the Great Northern Railroad. Traveling from Olney by bus, she finished her schooling at Whitefish High School. She moved to Whitefish to work and met Charles "Buster" Russell Cheever, they were married on October 27, 1945. They had three daughters and a son before moving to East Wenatchee on February 11, 1956 for "Buster" to work on Rocky Reach Dam. Two more sons were born, making a family of three girls and three boys. While working as a checker at Thriftway, Darlene met Newton Stannard and they married on February 27, 1967. They moved to Baker Flats and ran their orchard and packing shed together while enjoying the beauty of the surrounding countryside. In the late 1970's Darlene opened de Tennancour, a children's apparel store in Wenatchee. Newt passed away on April 4, 2013. Due to her health, Darlene spent her last years at Blossom Creek Memory Care. The family wishes to "Thank" all the staff that helped made her life comfortable there and in her last days, the wonderful care from Hospice. Darlene was a wonderful cook and had beautiful style but she would want most of all to be remembered as a woman of faith. She had Blessed Assurance that her faith was near to her heart and would say, "Be still, Be not afraid, Only believe". She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Newton Stannard; siblings, Charles Jr., Joyce, Leona, Donald, Norma Jean; grandsons Garrett and great grandson, Benjamin. Darlene is survived by her children, Juanita (Allen) Jones, Linda Cheever, Gary Cheever, Cindy (Gary) Dore`, Richard (Phyllis) Cheever, and Charles W. Cheever; stepsons, Steven Stannard and Richard Stannard; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Orondo Cemetery in Orondo, WA. You are invited to view her online guestbook at: www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com .
