Danna Lavon Anderson

Danna Lavon Anderson, 63, of Waterville and formally of Chelan and Wenatchee, passed away on May 26, 2015. She was born on December 2, 1951 in Wenatchee, to the late Ralph and Annabel (Moorman) McLean. Her first 11 years were spent with her siblings, Jack, Dick, Barb, Odell, Jean, Doris and cousins on the family wheat and cattle ranch, east of Mansfield, at Sims Corner. She enjoyed feeding the chickens, helping with the milking and riding her horse Red. They then moved to Spokane for a short time and then to Wenatchee, where she graduated from Wenatchee High School. She married Ed Dayton and they made their home in Hoquiam. Together they had a daughter, Susan. Later, Danna married Robert "Bob" Anderson and added three daughters to the family-Renee, Tracy, and Shawna. During the children's early years she entertained them by bottle digging, black berry picking, mushroom hunting, crawdad catching, feeding the ducks, basketball playing, roller skating and long drives along the bay. The girls remember that she would have them play Eye Spy to locate a license plate with a triple 8 and then they would follow that car. In early 1990, Danna had a janitorial business which years later she passed down to her daughter, Renee Anderson. The business is still going strong. In 1996 she started an adult family home in her home in Wenatchee. At this house many special memories were made, with her grandchildren, fort making, hide-and-go-seek, and holiday activities. Holidays were famous for her jams, rhubarb- pie, fudge, caramel-corn, cheese-balls, and other culinary delights. Christmas Breakfast was the family tradition. Danna loved to go site seeing and along the way would stop to pick up rocks, drift wood and if she came across a graveyard she would have to stop and hunt for the oldest headstone. She was fascinated with Indian Culture which included collecting, knick knacks and drawing images. A backyard mechanic she loved to work on cars and took pride in fixing things herself. An accident causing Danna a back injury meant the closing of her Adult Family home and a move to Chelan. Danna lived in Chelan with her dog, Cinnamon, and her cat, Booger Bear. Danna still insisted in caring for her beloved grandchildren and everyone that she loved. Special memories in Chelan were made with her children and grandchildren. They all loved to go to Danna's house for barbeques, sleep-overs, game-nights, and just casual-visiting. She also made some very close friends, Nancy, Forest, Jackie and George. An illness caused her move to Amber Waves, in Waterville. Here the staff and residents quickly became family. Her time was filled with her coloring and sharing of stories. Visitors that would pop in and see her or phone calls with her family, always brighten her day. Visits to her families home for sleep over's and holiday gatherings where looked forward to. Danna, a born nurturer, was known to her family and others as an "all in one", mother, father, grandmother and grandfather. To this day she is known as that hard worker, sweet loving person that would sacrifice anything for her kids and loved ones. She put everyone first, before herself. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Lauren McLean, Doris Steele, Jamie Mejia, and her best friend, Bo. Danna will be missed by her daughters, Susan Dayton, Renee Anderson, Tracy Hernandez, and Shawna Thompson, and son inlaw Loop Townsell; siblings, Barbara McGee, Odell McLean, Jean Handford, Jack McLean, and Dick McLean; grand-children, Heather and Garrett Koopman, Emanuel Rivera, Marcos Anderson, April Hernandez, Jessie Anderson Montes, Annabel Hernandez, Johnny Hernandez, Vera Hernandez, LaVon Thompson, Almendra Moreno; Her great-grand-children, Emma Koopman, Chloe Koopman, Isaiah Emmanuel Rivera Vargas, Nehemiah Sanchez Vargas, Sophia Rivera Dozal. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26, 11:00am at the Mansfield Cemetery with a continued time of sharing and potluck following at the Mansfield United Protestant Church.
