Carlene E Largent

August 26, 1940 - February 10, 2014 Carlene E. Largent passed away suddenly on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee due to complications from a fall. She was born at St. Anthony's Hospital in Wenatchee, WA on August 26, 1940 to Lyndel and Elaine (Preheim) East. She attended Wenatchee schools and had been a lifelong resident of the valley. Carlene and James D. Largent married in 1963 in Wenatchee. They had two children, Shellie and Brad. They purchased their 1st home together in East Wenatchee and later divorced in 1976. After many years of living with mental illness she moved to the Christopher House. She lived there for over 25 years where she became good friends with many of the residents and staff. In December of 2010, she moved to Garden Terrace where she could still be independent and have her own apartment. Mom worked as a waitress for many years. Her favorite and last employment was at The Mandarin Restaurant at the Valley North Mall. She met many kind people there that enjoyed having her as their waitress and would ask for her by name. Back in the day, Mom loved her brand new car, a 1969 Chevy Chevelle, purchased right off the show room floor in Cashmere. She drove that car for twenty plus years. Mom enjoyed family BBQ's and gatherings, listening to music and dancing, arts & crafts and watching classic TV and movies with friends. She liked to go for daily walks and especially to the Plaza Super Jet for her daily Pepsi or Coke and a snack. The Apple Blossom Festival was her favorite time of the year; she really enjoyed all the activities. 2012 was the last year she was able to attend the parade and stroll through Memorial Park with the use of her walker and her daughter by her side. Mom loved her kids, grandkids and even the four legged ones, dog Dottie and kitty Gracie, very much. Mom had a way of making us all laugh and not take life to seriously. She had a way of putting a Smile on your face. She is survived by he daughter, Shellie and husband, Todd Niebuhr of Wenatchee; her grandchildren, Amanda and Cody Niebuhr, Wenatchee and Tyler Largent, La Mesa, California. Mom was preceded in death by her son Brad in 2006, her parents and grandparents. A big "Thank You" goes out to anyone who has helped my mom at any time over the years, your kindness and understanding is greatly appreciated. No funeral services will be held, per Moms request.
