Blake Thomas Hancock

Blake Thomas Hancock, a kind and gentle soul, lost his courageous and graceful battle with esophageal cancer on the morning of August 13, 2015, surrounded by his heart broken family. Blake Thomas Hancock was born on January 1, 1986 to Shane and Marilee Hancock, joining brother Sean and sister Tela. Blake was a happy soul, whose smile and contagious sense of humor brought joy to those who knew him. Blake attended Wenatchee schools, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 2004. Upon graduation, Blake worked for Chelan County PUD from 2006 until his illness forced him to quit in early 2015. In June 2012, Blake was diagnosed with esophageal cancer at the age of 26, and spent the next three years battling his disease like a tenacious warrior. Throughout his multiple surgeries and extended treatments, Blake never lost his love of life and chose to spend time making each moment count. He loved being around his family and friends, gaining strength from those around him. What he failed to realize is that we all gained our strength from him; he was truly an inspiration. Blake was an amazing man; he was quick with a smile and a wonderful hug, making each person he knew feel special. His sense of humor was infections and he was truly larger than life. Blake loved spending time with his family and recognized the gift of family. Even though he was facing insurmountable odds, Blake was optimistic and positive, lending comfort to those who love him so much. On the morning of August 13 at 8:13 am, Blake succumbed to his disease, leaving us far too soon. While his disease took him from us physically, he will forever live on in the hearts and souls of those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Tom and Kaye Hancock, Uncle Kirk, Uncle Roger and Uncle Bob. Blake is survived by his strong and loving parents Shane (Sharon) Hancock, Marilee (Mike) May, as well as brother Sean Hein and his daughters Alaina and Calista, Sister Tela Hancock (Erik Davis) and their children Teegan and Skyla. Step siblings Lacie Hans, Dylan May, Shelby May, Eric and Daniel Smith. Step children Ariel and Steven Stockstill. He is also survived by grandparents Denny and Diane Sweat and leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Please join his family in a celebration of this life on Thursday, August 27th, at 1:00 at the Wenatchee First Assembly of God Church on McKittrick Street, Wenatchee.
