Anita Marie Burwell

Anita Marie (Vegas) Burwell, 44, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011. She was born September 19, 1967 in Vallejo, CA to parents Augustine (Gus) and Melvina (Mel) Vegas. More than anything, Anita loved her children; Phil, Jenna, and Will, daughter-in-law, Dawn, and affectionately called her grandchildren; Shelbie, Phillip, Kolby, and Leah "my babies". Anita loved the outdoors and some of her favorite times were spent camping with her kids. She recently spent the day riding 4x4's with her son, Will. As Anita watched her children grow, she marveled at the exceptional young men and women they have become and had a tremendous amount of pride in all of their achievements often sharing their lives with her circle of friends. Her love only grew stronger with each grandchild and she couldn't help but share pictures and funny stories of their daily mishaps with those around her. Anita had a laugh that was contagious, a sense of humor that charmed everyone and a heart that always had room for one more friend, one more cat, and she had a soft spot for one more great pair of shoes. One of the best things about Anita was her silly quirks that were known to her family and friends. One could simply say "that's Anita!" and no explanations were needed. Anita had the unique ability to make people around her feel like the most important person in the world and she will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Anita's spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren, in their smiles, in their mannerisms, and most notably in their strength. They were the center of her world and there is little doubt that she will continue to protect them as they continue in their journey through life. Anita is survived by her children; Phillip Lara (Dawn), East Wenatchee,Jenna, and Will Burwell, Wenatchee, her brothers, Gus (Sandra) Vegas,Vallejo, CA, John Vegas, Richmond, CA, and Tony (Annette)Vegas, Gault, CA sisters, Margaret (Eddie) Miguel, Vallejo, CA, Angela (Carol) Orr, Jacksonville, FL and Maria Tyler, Wenatchee and grandchildren, Shelbie, Phillip, Kolby, and Leah and a vast circle of loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of Anita's life will be Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Wenatchee First Assembly of God, 1520 McKittrick at 1:00 p.m.with Pastor Steve Brewer officiating. Visitation for family and close friends will be at the funeral home on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 3 to 8 p.m. Friends who wish, may make memorial donations in her name to the family.
