Daniel Davies Jr

Dan grew up at Bothell Farms (The Vitulli Farm) in the same home where his mother was raised. He was nurtured by his parents Daniel Sr. and Ethel in a home filled with love and laughter, taught an appreciation of hard work, taking care of family and friends, and GREAT Italian food. His father fostered a love of fishing and hunting in him from a young age and he passed this love onto his daughters and grandchildren. He enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from Bothell High School, where he attained the rank of Sergeant (twice), Munitions Specialist and Small Arms Expert Marksman. He came home and attended Shoreline Community College and the University of Washington where he earned a Fisheries Management degree. Daniel married Catherine Maloney on September 14, 1974. Her parents Roger and Cleo became his second set of parents whom he respected and was very close to. After graduating from the University of Washington, Dan and Cathy moved all over the state of Washington as he pursued his career as Fishery Biologist. His dream was to rear the healthiest fish possible to maintain fish runs into the future. He achieved his vision at the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery, where his team of Fish Culturists produced some of the largest, healthiest fish runs to come up the Icicle River. He was a very involved Girl Daddy, always at sporting events and other activities where Christy and Lisa were participating. He is so proud of his girls…..they are a mix of his strength and kindness with a lot of tenacity thrown in. Whenever they hit a rough patch, they know it’s the getting back up that counts. He is grateful for the good men they have in their lives to hold them right now. Watching his grandchildren grow was a never-ending source of laughter and pride. They constantly amazed him with their intelligence, humor and talents. Dan’s life was blessed with his fishing, hunting and shooting buddies and he always spoke with pride of the friends he made and their unwavering support and kindness. He was a member of Trout Unlimited, Leavenworth Sportsman’s Club, Cashmere Sportsman’s Club, and Wenatchee Sportsman’s Club. He was a Master Hunter and taught Hunter Education to many youth in the valley. He was admired for his quiet, positive mentoring of beginning shooters and supporter of all. Dan shot in a Traveling Trap league for Cashmere (undefeated) and attended state and regional shoots with many great shooters from the Sportsman’s Clubs. He was honored to shoot with a team of the finest Trap Shooters in Washington with whom he regularly competed. Their last tournament was a Washington State Shoot the 2nd week of July, where he won 1st place in his shooting class. Of course, he did have to get home because it was Sockeye season at Lake Wenatchee. Dan brought many years of joy to his wife Cathy, daughters Christy (Levi) and Lisa (J.R.), grandchildren Hunter (Jade), Jameson, Trey and Cece. He also leaves behind sister Sharon and niece Debbie (Tom) nephew Jon, brother-in-law Mike (Tina) and nephews Kevan and Kyle plus many other relatives he loved. He cherished the friendships he made through the years. You all brought so much fun and happiness into his life! Above all, Dan was a rock solid, great guy. Thank you to all who reached out to him when he was undergoing treatments. He felt your love! Rest easy sweet man. Dan Davies Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, September 7th at 2:00 at Stroup's Field 12482 Prowell St. on the Icicle River in Leavenworth, WA. Very informal.
