Wilma Jane Johnson

Wilma was born April 26, 1910, the third child born to Jessie Russell Conklin and Fred Conklin on their Apple ranch in Brewster,WA. At the age of 9 her papa died in the pandemic of 1918, and the family struggled to stay afloat. At the age of 12 Wilma went to live with the Frank Julian family to help care for their 3 young boys. They were a successful bunch. To this day Wilma was in touch with the youngest, Gordon. When she was older in high school she worked her summers at the then Meadow Creek Lodge. After graduation from Wenatchee High School. She married James F Johnson on June 12, 1930, they had one son. Wilma left her career with the phone company and moved into banking, retiring in 1973. Wilma had a great sense of humor and a creative imagination. She would spend her idle time finding clouds, trees and rocks, that to her would be sheep, or houses, or faces. She spent time in her younger years building miniature houses, and in final years, reading, building and decorating houses in many different locations and styles. Her mind was always busy. She maintained friends to this day from all ages. She still recently got together with the "Great Banker Gals". And many others of her friends would stop by the home to visit her. She lived the later 10 years of her life up the Squilchuck Valley, which is quite a beautiful place to leave this world for the next. Wilma lived by some very practical philosophies, simple, healthy eating, exercise, reading her Bible and a daily glass of wine, happy hour. Wilma was preceeded in death by siblings Wilbur, Elbert, and Beth Conklin Taplet, and Francis Eddy. Wilma is survived by her son Jim and his wife Alana. Sister Jessie Rae Eddy Hendrickson of Portland. Grand children Brandon Johnson and John Johnson, and great-granddaughter Avery and her grandmother Nancy Johnson of Spokane. Shannon Eddings, husband Lee and sons Connor and Xander of Woodland, WA. Cori Miller of Wenatchee and children Wynter, Mylo and P.J., Ryan Miller Holland of Spokane and son Dakota, Devin Prothero and children Olivia and Javari and Kyle Prothero of East Wenatchee also many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr Stephen Aguilu and the nurses and staff at Central Washington Hospital Physicans, CWH Home Care & Hospice and our caregivers who helped provide dignified end of life care and Pastor Andrew Thompson.
