Vernis Geraldine Hollingsworth

Vernis G. "Trudy" Hollingsworth, 72, of East Wenatchee an Chelan County resident for over 40 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Colonial Vista Care Center in Wenatchee. She was born on August 12, 1938 at Clinton, Minnesota to the late Vern Jay and Wilhelmina Justina (Ranke) Saulsbury. She was raised and received her education in the Clinton, Minnesota area. In 1954, she was married to Robert Pauli in Minnesota. They made many moves with their young family through the Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana area to the various construction sites where her husband, Robert was working. In 1969, she moved her family to Chelan Falls, Washington. She went to work as a Waiterss at the Apple Cup Restaurant. She met and was married to James Grady Vaught in Chelan. They lived in Chelan and also briefly moved to Bellingham, returning to Chelan in 1971. She was preceded in death by her husband, Janes Vaught in 1972. The following year, she was married to Melvin Eugene "Gene" Hollingsworth. They made their home together in Chelan where she helped her husband run their store, the "Hiway Market". They moved to make their home in Wenatchee in 1991. The following year, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Eugene "Gene" Hollingsworth. She has since made her home in East Wenatchee. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chelan and a longtime member of the Chelan Eagles Lodge. She especially enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting. She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Rachelle "Shelley" Shannon, Waseca, Minnesota, Ronda McCallister, East Wenatchee, Randy Pauli, Wenatchee, Robin & Joe Farley, Billings, Montana, Russ and Keri Pauli, Moses Lake, Roxy Miller, East Wenatchee and Angela "Angie" & Denny Riffert, Newburgh, Indiana; two brothers, Kenneth "Ken" & Gerta Saulsbury, Willmar, Minnesota and Alvin "Duke" & Evelyn "Babe" Saulsbury, Omak; 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband's, her parents, her daughter, Lisa Pauli on September 8, 2009, an infant son, Rory Pauli, six brothers and sisters, Irene Rutland, Leona Drake, Fern Saulsbury, Marlin Saulsbury, Vernon Saulsbury and Herbert Saulsbury. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be on Sunday afternoon, February 27th at 2:00 p.m. in the Chelan Room at the Red Lion, 1225 N. Wenatchee Avenue, Wenatchee, with Pastor Keith Kirkpatrick officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.
