Sandra Joanne Stanaway

Sandra Joanne "Sandy" Stanaway, 37, a lifelong Wenatchee area resident, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 15, 2008. She was born on September 11, 1971, in Wenatchee, the daughter of Carl and Sharron (Smith) Bolinger. She was raised in Wenatchee, where she attended St. Joseph's Catholic School, Orchard Middle School and Wenatchee High School. While attending Wenatchee High School, Sandy was a cheerleader for three years. Following high school, she became a stay at home mother. She was married to Craig Stanaway on June 30, 1995, at Coeur d'Alene, ID. They made their home together in East Wenatchee. Sandy worked at Apple Valley Honda for the past five years, and was on the AVH Bowling Team. She had especially enjoyed spending time hanging out with all of her friends at the family's Baker Flats home, swimming and keeping a good tan and bowling with her boys. She placed the most importance in her life on her boys and they were her everything. While her father was owner of the number 84 car in the Northwest Superstock Series, Sandy spent a lot of time at the racetracks, especially Wenatchee Valley Super Oval. She is survived by her three sons, Cody J. Bolinger, Curtis B. Stanaway and Austin E. Stanaway, all of East Wenatchee; her mother, Sharron Bolinger Smith of East Wenatchee; one sister, Shannon D. Hoover of East Wenatchee; her two grandmothers, Margaret Smith of East Wenatchee and Anna Bolinger of East Wenatchee; one step-son, Tyler Stanaway of Seattle; her special cousins, Heather Smith of East Wenatchee, Alex and his wife, Shelby Smith of Wenatchee, Josh Bolinger of Texas and David Cross of East Wenatchee; her aunts and uncles, Robby and Penny Smith of Wenatchee, Richard and SueMay Smith of Graham, WA and Dave and Nancy Dahlen of East Wenatchee; and special friends, Paula Hallead and Sharon and Dwight Byers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Stanaway; her father, Carl Bolinger; both of her grandfathers, Ed "Bud" Smith and Myron Bolinger; and her grandmother, Joan Smith. Commemoration Services will be held for Sandy on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Celebration Lutheran Church, 801 8th Street, East Wenatchee, with Pastor Dave Haven officiating. Friends who wish, are invited to make memorial contributions in her name to a special trust fund for her boys through Peoples Bank.
