Sandra Ann Cope

Sandra Ann Cope, 69, Cashmere resident passed away on March 1, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born on January 11, 1944 to Howard and Gervase (Dording) Olson in Cashmere, WA one of nine children. She attended Cashmere schools and graduated in 1963. Shortly after graduation she left for Corpus Christi, TX but soon found her way back to the valley. She met and was married to Lovell "Jay" DeHart on March 23, 1968 at the Cashmere Methodist Church. Together they made their home in Cashmere. Sandra gained employment as a waitressed at the Evergreen Restaurant in town and later worked as a Fruit Packer for Cashmere Fruit and Pioneer Growers warehouses but was known for 23 years as the Bar Tender at The Club. In 1969 they welcomed daughter, Crystal and in 1970 daughter, Juanita. Jay and Sandra purchased a home in Peshastin and they lived there until Jay's death in 1978. In 1989 Sandra met and married Gene Cope and together they made their home in Cashmere until his death in 2000. Sandy enjoyed fishing at Fish Lake and regardless of rain, wind or heat if the fish were nibbling she wasn't leaving the dock. There wasn't a yard sale that she'd drive by without stopping to see what treasure she could bring home. Sandy's guilty pleasure by far had to be the slot machines at MillBay. She would gleefully tell the story of her great winnings in 2006 of $10,064 on the progressive penny slot machine. Sandy's greatest love by far was her family and friends and they knew that her ribbing and teasing of them was her showing them how much they meant to her. She is preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Ruth Olson; husbands, Jay DeHart and Gene Cope; sister, Marilyn Olson; brothers, Duane Olson & Tom Olson and grandson, Jacob Boerner. She is survived by daughters, Crystal (David) Young, East Wenatchee, Juanita DeHart, (Cashmere), siblings, Bob (Maddie) Olson, Seattle, Dick (Virginia) Olson, Cashmere, Mary (John) Cox, Sunnyslope, Dwight (Judy) Olson, Spokane, Jeanne (Dave) Griffis, Everett; five grand-daughters, Aimee Taber, Wenatchee, Cheyenne Morgan, Wenatchee, Sara (Nick) Isaacson, Lynnwood, Kayla Morgan, Wenatchee, Samantha Morgan, Wenatchee; and three great- grandsons, Tyyler Cleland, Graysun Cleland, of Wenatchee and Jayden Isaacson of Lynnwood plus an additional two on the way. She also leaves behind a special four legged friend "Missy Moomoo". A Memorial service is planned for March 22, 2013, 1:00pm at the Masonic Temple in Wenatchee.
