Richard Stevens

Richard "Rich" Stevens, 53, a lifelong resident of East Wenatchee, WA, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born on December 4, 1963 in Wenatchee, WA to Wilford and Betty (Clark) Stevens. He was raised in East Wenatchee and spent his childhood camping, fishing and hunting with his family. He attended Eastmont Schools, graduating in 1982. He then enlisted in the Army National Guard where he proudly served for 6 years. He also attended Clover Park Voc-Tech in Tacoma, WA, receiving his diploma as a machinist. In September of 1987 he started working at Cashmere Manufacturing. He continued working through their transition to Pacific Aerospace and Electronics (PA&E). He enjoyed working for PA&E and thought of the people he worked with as family. Many of his co-workers were also his closest friends. He celebrated his 30 years of service with PA&E this year. He met Lauri Preston while attending Evergreen Safety Council Classes in Spokane, WA. They were later married on July 17, 1999 in Spokane. They made their home together in East Wenatchee where they raised three wonderful children. Rich enjoyed the outdoors. He spent many, many hours fishing and would teach anyone who wanted to learn. He also enjoyed hunting, hiking, and camping with his family and friends. Rich was also an avid sports fan. He attended many Eastmont HS sporting events over the years, as well as many years coaching Little League baseball and basketball. His love of the outdoors and sports in general was passed down to his children. Both Alan and Nathan played HS Baseball and the whole family enjoyed many camping and fishing trips together. Rich always liked to share his passions with others. As a member of the Eastmont Baptist Church, he also shared his passion for Christ. His Pastor often referred to him as a "Fisher of Men". He is survived by his loving wife, Lauri, his three children, Alan Stevens, East Wenatchee; Kaitlyn (Justin) Pearson, Waitsburg and Nathan Zuidema, East Wenatchee; his mother, Betty Stevens, Wenatchee; sisters Gwen (Butch) Fletcher, Deer Park, and Debbie (Chuck) Gallaher, Wenatchee and his brother Tom (Laura) Stevens, East Wenatchee. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilford Stevens. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Eastmont Baptist Church, 400 S. Kentucky, East Wenatchee, with Pastor Dallas Stringer officiating.
