Lorna Mae Lortie

I was born April 3, 1936 at Vancouver, B.C. to Robert and Harriet Macfarlane. Nine years later brother Bill joined us. I passed into God's hands on Friday, December 24th at Aaron Adult Family Home with loving family at my side. February 25, 1955 I married my high school sweetheart, George Lortie at Maple, Ontario and 3 years later we moved to the United States with our 10 month old daughter, Susan. Wenatchee welcomed us after 6 years of living in a trailer and "tramping" the western states. While "on the road" Bob was born in 1959 at Blackfoot, Idaho and Mike in 1960 at Vallejo, California. I was fortunate to help establish the Greater Wenatchee Girls Softball League, sending out letters to all the service clubs and many businesses to acquire sponsors. We started with 5 teams and look at them go now! Another joy in my life was making hundreds of fleece blankets for family, friends, Our House and Hospice. Fellow Greater Wenatchee Sunrise Lions held a special place in my heart. I worked at the Wenatchee World for over 10 years, retiring in 1995 as Wilfred Woods secretary. Some of the happiest days of my life were spent working with this incredible group of people. I am survived by daughter, Sue Mickelson and son, Bob (Marcia) Lortie all of East Wenatchee; grandchildren, Adam Dawson East Wenatchee, Alicia Dawson, Medicine Hat, Alberta and Mandi Lortie, Wenatchee; brother, Bill (Brenda) Macfarlane, Black foot, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Tammie Lortie, East Wenatchee, and sister-in-law, Mary Rumble, Richmond Hill, Ontario and dear friends, Joanie and Al Hunter, East Wenatchee. I was preceded in death by my parents, my son Mike in 2005, and my husband George in 2007. Special thanks to staff at Central Washington Hospital, Hospice, Colonial Vista Rehab, Carol Levi and staff at Aaron Adult Family Home; Jessee, Lettie, Chris, Maria and especially to Deborah, my "Bodacious Babes Boutique" partner. Also to my Wenatchee World family and Drs. Slapnicka, (nurse Shelley), Julie Smith, Garver, Barber, Murray, Paugh, Osgood and Daryl Miller. I am eternally grateful for my wonderful family and friends who have supported and loved me.
