Linda Kay Evers

Linda Kay (Cartwright) Evers was born on January 3, 1946, in Vancouver, Washington, to Charles E. (Ed) Cartwright and Bonnie (White) Cartwright. The family, which included her younger sister, Pamela, lived in Spokane and Kalispell, Montana, prior to moving to East Wenatchee in 1958. Linda went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, following a long battle with lung cancer. Linda loved learning and graduated from Eastmont High School in 1964. She was named Girl of the Month for school spirit her senior year and enjoyed organizing, planning and coordinating the last five class reunions in order to meet with and celebrate old friends and classmates. She married Ken Evers in 1967 and they lived in Seattle for 10 months, then returned to East Wenatchee to spend the rest of their married life. They raised a son and daughter, Thomas and Kendra. An excellent secretary, Linda was never without a job when she wanted one, having been employed by Douglas County PUD, Peoples Bank, Jeffers Danielson Law Firm, and WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center, retiring in 2007. An avid football fan, Linda especially enjoyed rooting for the Seahawks and her WSU Cougars. Linda learned how to sew in high school and made most of her own clothes, as well as her daughter's clothes. She loved working in her garden and preserving the fruits of her labors. She was a voracious reader, loved to do crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles and play online Scrabble, and enjoyed needlework and getting together with her many friends for lunch. Later in life, Linda enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Linda gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ in April of 1971 and was a member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and sharing with others the love of God, as well as serving as Church Clerk. She is survived by her son, Thomas Evers, and his children, Kyle and Sarah, and her daughter, Kendra (Min) Choi, and their children, Emily and Sofia. Also surviving is her sister, Pamela, and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Bonnie Cartwright, and an infant son, James. The family wishes to express appreciation to the special people in the oncology department at Confluence Health. Thanks also go to her church family, good friends at Sunrise East, and many other special friends for their love and offers of help during her last illness. A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Friday, August 12th, at 11:00AM at Lincoln Park Baptist Church, 286 Crawford, Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lincoln Park Baptist Church or the Wounded Warrior Project. Friends wishing to do so may bring flowers from their gardens to adorn the church.
