John McLachlan Arbuckle

John M. "Jack" Arbuckle, 85, an East Wenatchee resident for over 30 years, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Highline Care Center in East Wenatchee. He was born on October 27, 1926 at Coulee City to the late John D. & Margaret Elizabeth (Hay) Arbuckle. As a young boy, the family moved to Wilson Creek, where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1945. He entered the U. S. Navy and served during W.W.II . Following his honorable discharge, he continued his education at Washington State College in Pullman for two years. In the late 1940's, he moved to Ephrata, where he went to work for the Grant County P.U.D. He later moved to Moses Lake and became the manager of the Parts Department of Parker Buick. In April of 1951, the Navy called him up to serve as a Medical Corpsman in the marines in Korea. Following his honorable discharge in September of 1952, he returned to make his home in Ephrata where he went to work for the W.S.D.O.T. in the Engineering Department. He transferred to the Wenatchee office in the mid 1970's and continued working for the Department of Transportation until retiring in the early 1990's with 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet R. "Jan" Arbuckle in 1995. He has since continued to make his home in East Wenatchee. He was a longtime member of Eastmont Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Ephrata. He enjoyed golf, his service to his church as an Elder and repairman and reading. He is survived by three step children; five brothers and sisters, Hugh (Alberta) Arbuckle and Robert "Bob"(Lorene) Arbuckle, all of Ephrata, Isabel Jewell, Gilroy, CA, Mary Alsup, Spokane and David Arbuckle, Moses Lake. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan in 1995, one step-son, Gary Arbuckle and one sister, Margaret Rand. A Commemoration service will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 11:00a.m. at Eastmont Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Kentucky, East Wenatchee, with Pastor Jim Deal officiating.
