Jeanette N. Griggs

Jeanette N. Griggs June 2, 1944 - April 15, 2018 Jeanette Griggs (Lancaster) beloved wife and mother, joined the Angels in Heaven on April 15, 2018. She was born on June 2, 1944 in Wenatchee, WA to Stephen and Audrey Lancaster. She was the oldest of seven siblings. In 1962 she graduated from Eastmont High school and attended business school immediately afterward. On May 15, 1965 Jeanette married her soulmate, Alvin Griggs. They celebrated almost 53 years of a devoted marriage. Together they had four children. Jeanette pursued a career as a homemaker, wife, and mother and did a fabulous job with all three. Over the years she welcomed 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for children and each child was made to feel very special in her presence. Jeanette had a smile and laugh that brightened a room. She lended a listening ear to many and would always try to brighten days with cards for special occasions and just because. She continued to do this even when she could barely write her name. Jeanette enjoyed the outdoors, camping, her family, and her cats. She also loved her Church and was a member of Holy Apostles in East Wenatchee. She rarely spoke of her Faith, but it was shown in many ways as she lived her life. Jeanette fought a courageous battle of Ms for most of her adult life. She did so with a smile on her face and never let it steal her joy for life. She and our family will be forever grateful to her faithful caregivers, especially Lavonne and Sylvia; and to the many caregivers and family members who provided support. Her favorite caregiver was her loving husband who cared for her up until the day she took her last breath. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Alvin Griggs of East Wenatchee, children Penney Griggs (Scott) of Orondo, WA; Pam Griggs of Phoenix, AZ, Dan Griggs (Erin) of East Wenatchee, WA; Debbie Griggs of East Wenatchee, WA; siblings Susan Miller (Roger) of Camino Island, WA; Michael (Marilyn) Lancaster of Monitor, WA, Peter (Melba) Lancaster of Seattle, WA; Patty (John) Sorrentino of Holland, PA; Beverly (Jeff) Odland of Athol, ID; and 23 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Audrey Lancaster; her siblings Stephen Lancaster, Jr. and Karen Herman; and granddaughter Kayley Griggs. A Rosary Vigil will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 6:30 pm at Heritage Memorial Chapel, located at 19 Rock Island Road, East Wenatchee, WA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, located at 1315 8th St NE, East Wenatchee, WA, with the Reverend Father Seamus Kerr Celebrant officiating.
