Felicia Jean Garner

February 3, 1958 to September 20, 2015 Felicia Garner was born in North Hollywood, California and moved with her family at an early age to the Seattle, Washington area. The majority of her adult life was spent in the Wenatchee community, where she made her home with her husband, son, and nieces and nephews. A seamstress by trade, she also enjoyed needlepoint and sewing as a hobby. Felicia was a true positive spirit and enjoyed family, animals, traveling, and fun. Affectionately known as "Flo", her great sense of humor was a splendid gift to those lucky to share it. A devoted wife, mom, grandma, aunt, and sister, Flo gave tirelessly to those around her. Family was everything to Flo; always the one to reach out and help family in need. Sometimes it was one person at a time but often it was multiple loved ones that needed her. And she loved to be needed! Brothers, sisters, son, nieces, nephews, friends - it didn't matter the circumstance, she was always there doing her best to help. She was truly the glue that held her family together. Married to her beloved Mike for 31 ½ years; they met in South Carolina and fell in love at a young age. Although life in South Carolina was hard, Felicia was grateful for her adventures there because it brought her and Mike to each other. Opening their hearts and home to nieces and nephews (and the joyous grandchildren) to help guide them through childhood was a natural fit for them. Through good, hard times, and fun times (and they loved to have fun); they set an example of love, respect, friendship and devotion that is a rare gift. Always an avid animal lover, she was surrounded by her animal friends. Her animals were definitely family, not just pets. During a job at a pet store, she contracted salmonella and her largest concern was that she could have infected the animals. She fought and beat cancer. Gallant through the chemo treatments, she fought with strength and humor. Declining health from COPD did not stop her. Having arranged for long lasting portable oxygen, she bravely boarded an Alaska bound cruise ship for a week of exploring and enjoying the trip. No matter what the challenge, Flo met it head on with dignity, humor, and love. Her shining eyes, quick wit, and heart lifting laughter will be missed by all those who knew her. .. Preceded in death by her parents and brother John Ickes. Felicia is survived by her husband, Mike Garner of Wenatchee, WA; son Kurtis Ickes of Wenatchee, WA; granddaughter Alyssa Ickes Gray of Cashmere, WA; brothers Bob (Gayle) Ickes, Steve (Donna) Ickes, Howard Ickes, Tom (Carrie) Ickes, Jerry Ickes, Jay Ickes; sister Carrie Sadler; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2015, 2:00 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene,1011 South Miller Street, Wenatchee, WA 98801. The service will be followed with a continued time of sharing of memories and food at the church.
