Emily Kay Bratton

Emily Kay Bratton, 45, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 with her husband and close friends by her side. She was born July 2, 1977, in Auburn, CA., to Robert and Gail (Gillis) Hoxworth. Her older sister Amy, welcomed her along with her parents. Soon after, her brother Christopher would be born and their family would be complete. Emily loved her siblings with all of her heart! She started kindergarten in Anchorage, AK and continued her education there until 2nd grade. From there she experienced a wonderful education at Winton Elementary School, a one room school for third, fourth and fifth grade in Lake Wenatchee. Emily and her family then moved to Singapore and went to a Singapore American School for 6th grade. After a year in Singapore, they returned to Wenatchee and Emily attended Orchard Middle School, then Wenatchee High School, graduating in 1995. After high school, Emily attended Central Washington University, and graduated from Wenatchee Valley College with her nursing degree in 2008. She loved her calling as a nurse and most recently as a Pediatric Hospice Nurse in the Wenatchee Valley. While going to Nursing School, she fell in love with her husband, Mitch Bratton. In 2011, they married and made a beautiful life in Wenatchee. Emily loved to travel! While in Singapore, she went with her grandfather to Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia. She also visited Ireland a couple times with a friend. Emily was a very selfless person, thinking of others before herself. Along with traveling, Emily loved all things domestic, she enjoyed baking, canning and freeze drying. Caring for animals also filled her heart with so much joy!! Her love for vintage Pyrex was great and her collection is impressive! She loved the ocean and feeling the sand in her toes. She was looking forward to spending Thanksgiving at the Ocean with her family this year. Her children were her everything. She was so proud of all of her children! Always by their side and their biggest cheerleader! She was an advocate for her children, all children and took that roll seriously. Her job as a Pediatric Hospice Nurse exemplified her gracious heart! Emily was a spirit of light and love bringing so much happiness and joy to all she knew! She could make friends with anyone. Random strangers were often introduced to her gift of gab, she could talk to ANYONE and more often than not, those random strangers became friends. Emily will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all that knew her. For to know her was to love her. She filled each room, each space she held with warmth and beauty! Emily changed lives and made the world a better place by her compassionate heart. She continues to make a difference in the lives of others and that ripple effect will be felt for ages. Emily is survived by her husband, Mitch Bratton, of Wenatchee, WA. Her children, Molly Martinez, 20, of Melbourne, FL., Brandon Port, 14, of Wenatchee, WA., and Oliver Bratton, 11, of Wenatchee, WA. Her parents, Robert and Gail Hoxworth, of FL., Her sister Amy (Hoxworth) Huebner, of Marrieta, FL., and her brother, Christopher Hoxworth of Renton, WA., and MANY family and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Curtis and Betty Hoxworth and Don and Lila Gillis, and her uncle Douglas Hoxworth.
