Elinor Augusta Walsh

Elinor Augusta Walsh our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Monday, April 29. She was born on September 27, 1923 to Mary and Robert Jurgens of Cashmere, WA. She was raised modestly, with an appreciation for the simple things in life. Elinor met and married Patrick Henry Walsh in 1941. She was blessed with seven beautiful children, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, seven adopted great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Elinor was the heart of her family as they lived close and enjoyed her comfort and wisdom. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and an example to all who met her of faith, humility, charity, and love. She instilled these values into her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and any person she met. Elinor was content to lead a simple life as can be seen in her hobbies. She could always be found in the garden with her gardening hat, gloves, and old flannel shirt. She had an enormous garden full of vegetables; she also grew an assortment of flowers and trees. Elinor enjoyed weekend picnics and fishing trips with family and friends. She was happy to go for weekend drives with Grandpa where they would search for rocks, metal detect for coins, and pick berries and mushrooms. Elinor also loved photography and developed her own photographs; this was one of her ways of remembering family events. Elinor was the family historian and would spend hours researching and documenting family genealogy. Elinor was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Henry Walsh; and her son, Gene Anthony Walsh. She is survived by her children; Larry Walsh of Cashmere, Joanna Thomason of Cashmere, Shelley Hinkle of Cashmere, Patty Jones of Cashmere, Tony Walsh of Pasco, and Jeff Walsh of Cashmere. She also leaves behind many loving friends and relatives. Elinor will be sorely missed by all. A rosary will be said for Elinor at 7pm on Monday the 6th at St. Francis Xavier Church in Cashmere. Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, the 7th also at St Francis Xavier Church in Cashmere. Family and friends are invited to view her online tribute at: www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com .
