Elaine Files November 8, 1930 - September 8, 2018 Wenatchee, WA Elaine (Duncan) Files, 87, of Wenatchee, WA, became a Sweet Angel on Saturday, September 8, 2018. The youngest of 11 children born to Robert Oras and Lucy Annie (Hightchew) Duncan of Nahahum Canyon, Cashmere, WA, on November 8, 1930. She grew up and attended schools in Cashmere. She was married to Donald Files for 39 years and their union bore three children: Donald Lynn, Pennie Elaine and Blaine Eugene. They made their home in numerous Washington towns including Cashmere, Leavenworth, Lake Stevens, Everett and Wenatchee. For the last 30 years, she shared her life with Jerry L. Woods. Together, they enjoyed traveling, long drives and visiting with family and friends. They also shared a love for their precious cat, Duchess. He cared for her during her battle with cancer and was with her at her passing. She retired from Cascadian Fruit Shippers in 1998 to care for her first great- grandchild. She cherished her family. Joys in her life were family camping trips, cooking and gardening. She was a member of the Squilchuck Ladies Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She wrapped gifts at Valley North Mall for many years to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Elaine was baptized by her niece, Loretta Garret, on August 1, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Leona Williams, Eunice Mathews, Clifford Duncan, Dorothy Carpenter, Rosella Farmer, Thelma Bridges, Ann Tucker, Berdena Boone, LaVerne Carey, Betty Cockrum and her son, Blaine Files. She is survived by her children: Don (Kathy) Files, Pennie (John) Ross; grandchildren: Amy (Troy) English, Matt (Lyndsey) Files, Kristy (Shawn) Cockrum; great-grandchildren: Katelynn and Wyatt English, Taylor and Gracie Files, Austin and Aiden Cockrum, all of Wenatchee, WA. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Wenatchee. The loving care given by Barb, Maria, and Marilyn was a special gift. They truly were her Angels. Also, the Oncology nurses of Confluence Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Heritage Memorial Chapel, 19 Rock Island Road, East Wenatchee, WA. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Heritage Memorial Chapel. Following the Service, Burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 1301 10th St. NE, East Wenatchee, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Elaine's name to Hospice Care of Wenatchee.
