Donna Burns-Moldstat

Donna came into this world on July 25, 1935 and passed into her next life on October 29, 2014, wrapped in the loving arms of her daughters. She graduated from West Seattle High School in 1953 and married the love of her life, Bill Burns, that same year. They had three daughters, Diana in 1957, Laura in 1959 and Paula in 1965. Bill and Donna moved to East Wenatchee in 1964 and in the early '70's started Burns Distributing and World Wines. Together, they built a successful business. They were huge supporters of local sports, sponsoring many teams and events including the Wenatchee Oly men's fast pitch softball team. Many a weekend was spent at Triangle Park in Wenatchee, cheering their teams on. Upon Bill's tragic death in 1985, Donna continued on and for years was the only female beer distributor in Washington State. She was coordinator of the Women's Career Network which brought local business women together. She became involved with SCORE, Central Washington Hospital Foundation and the Winter Olympics. In 1997, Donna married Hal Moldstad and also sold her business. She traveled around the world and thoroughly enjoyed her retirement. She also became "Grandmamma" to five grandchildren - Donny, Jamie, Billy, Cassidy and Alexa and one great-grandson, Billy. Upon Hal's death in 2013, she moved to Bonaventure in East Wenatchee and met a devoted companion, Marlow Jacobsen, who brought her happiness and comfort for the rest of her life. Tremendously talented, creative and artistic, Donna loved to decorate, paint, bead, mosaic, make dolls and had many other hobbies. She always had a craft project in work. Her home was always decorated to the max, especially at Christmas time where everything glittered and glowed. She loved shopping, pears, hats and everything sparkly. She is survived by her daughters, Diana (Chase) Cockrell, Laura (Hank) Graves and Paula (Brandon) Carter. Sister Sue (Mel) Terry, brother Jim (Sue) Krause, special cousin George Cook, grandchildren Donny (Darcie)Graves, Jamie and Cassidy Goodman and Alexa Cockrell and great-grandson, Billy Graves. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Burns, husband Hal Moldstad and grandson Billy Graves. Donna was a beautiful lady and will be greatly missed by all.
