David R Mires

In loving memory of David R. Mires, who passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, surrounded by his cherished family. Dave, affectionately known as "Papa" to his children and grandchildren, graced this world on November 17, 1939, in Wenatchee, Washington, born to Dell and Laura Mires. A true pillar of his community, Dave's journey began when he met the love of his life, Marvel L. Payne (Mires), during their high school years at Waterville High School. Together, they embarked on a remarkable 64-year journey, founding and managing Mires Service Center—"Where Satisfied Buyers Deal with Mires." This commitment to excellence defined Dave's life, whether he was expertly repairing agricultural machinery, organizing events like the Pony Express at the NCW District Fair, or crafting his and Marvel's legendary Wishbone sausages and meat cuts. Beyond his passion for tinkering in his beloved garage, Dave’s heart overflowed with a deep-seated desire to give back. Always at the forefront of volunteer efforts and charitable endeavors, he selflessly dedicated his time and energy to enriching the lives of others. Whether leading highway clean-ups, feeding fair clean-up crews, or smoking turkeys for Thanksgiving, Dave's benevolent spirit left an indelible mark on the Town of Waterville and the Wenatchee Valley. Dave leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity, survived by his devoted wife Marvel and their three children, Robert (Michelle), Denise Kaysen (Dave), and David (Louis). He is also survived by his brother, Darrel "Dutchie" Mires (Helen), sister Darlene Jones (Chuck), along with two grandsons, Dustin Mires and Brendon Schulz, granddaughter Kiffen Winfrey (Adam), and two great-grandchildren. To honor Dave's memory, his family, alongside the Waterville Wranglers, invites all to a heartwarming Celebration of Life on May 11-12, 2024, at the Hubacher Place, Badger Mountain, Washington. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Waterville EMS via NCW Community Foundation, Waterville Community Fund in Dave's name would be deeply appreciated, continuing his legacy of service and kindness. Though he may have departed from our earthly realm, Dave's spirit of compassion and goodwill will forever resonate in the lives he touched.
