Clema Jean Freeman September 27, 1939 - 2013 October 11 "Mama...Sweet, Sweet, Mama" You were born on the 27th day of September in the Lords year of 1939 to your loving parents Leanord and Edith Vickery in the small town of Stella, Arkansas. The third of seven children the family owned and kept a 160 acre cotton farm. With crops failing and the farm sold, Daddy gathered the family and migrated, following the crops and harvests west and then north. Finally settling in Orondo, WA the family grew and staked claim to a new start. With this new beginning you entered into the ol' Orondo schoolhouse and local church. Being of a deeply religious family you would attend and perform in the church four and five times a week. Through your time in church, in 1955 you met and married Alvis W. Ashbrooks. (Daddy sang bass momma sang tenor). The next eleven years you gave birth to four wonderful boys. (Sorry Mama). After these years of good times, child rearing and hard work, the family split. Raising your boys, you worked two and sometimes three jobs waitressing to get by. (Thank you) It's been said by still thankful customers..."Clema was the BEST darn waitress this valley ever had!" In 1971 you met Roy A. Freeman and by 1973 you married, continuing to build a better life. Over the next several years, you worked so hard waitressing and raising your boys. Always enjoying the camping, fishing and hunting trips you could fit in. You always worked on your Donkey Collection when you and Roy would take a trip south a few summer. Coming home to tend to your garden and greenhouse, I swear your plants loved you as much as you loved them! After many more years on your feet, you decided on a desk job, running dispatch for Woody's Cab. The taxi business never ran so smooth. Later on you even worked with your tow oldest boys at Accor Technology, mastering that job as well. Finally retiring, you began to see after and assist your Mama and Daddy and brother Doug. Doing anything and all you could to make their lives that much easier and better. Along this time your love of classic movies, world political and religious history filled many a day. "Not many could match your knowledge mama". After the passing of your Mama and Daddy and son in recent yours, you began to need your own T.L.C. with a steady decline in your own health. You still had your tender beautiful, loving smile and laugh on alert, to share with all. You did this Mama all the way to this end and your new beginning "but of course Mama you know all of this!" Speaking for all those left behind Mama-We Honor You!...We Love You!...We Miss You!...and Thank You for everything. Special thanks to: family that saw her through Hospice, Carla, Barb, Nicolle for all your care. Claudia and all your staff, Marida, Linda, Christine and Stephanie at Argonne; you were all incredible. Preceded in death by parents; second husband, Roy A. Freeman; brother, Samual Vickery and son, Russell "Rusty" Ashbrooks. Survived by, her first husband, Alvis W. Ashbrooks; sons, William D. Ashbrooks, Charles E. Ashbrooks, Michael T. Ashbrooks; sisters, Wanda McCarver, Faye Kronholm, Gloria Smith; brothers, Rudolph Vickery, Doug Vickery; grand children, Samual Ashbrooks, Brandon Ashbrooks, Benjaman Ashbrooks, Carlee Ashbrooks and six great grandchildren. The spreading of ashes ceremony will be held at Orondo Cemetery on November 9, 2013 for family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
