Betty Ann Burris

Betty Ann (Gapan) Burris has gone on to live with our eternal Father in Heaven. She died Friday, November 29th 2013, in Central Washington Hospital, after a sudden illness. Betty was born to Pedro Astero and Jean Etta (Brooks) Gapan on July 11, 1956 in Wenatchee, Washington. Her first home was on the river near the Apple Yard Train Transfer Station in South Wenatchee. Her home was one of the only homes left standing following the Apple Yard Explosion. Following the death of her father in 1968, she and her two brothers moved to Rock Island to live with foster parents, Ken and Jane Ficker. It was here that Betty first learned of God's plan to reunite families for time and all eternity when life on earth is through. Betty attended elementary school at Mission View in Wenatchee and Rock Island and graduated from Wenatchee High School. She married her eternal companion, Jack Thomas Burris, in Wenatchee on September 12, 1975. They were sealed in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada Temple in 1979. They along with their daughter, Charlotte Melissa "Cherie" Burris, lived at various locations in Wenatchee. Betty was well known for her selfless service to others. She greatly enjoyed baking, gardening, and an endless list of crafting. God's will was her primary concerns, so she attended the Temple often. She is survived by her husband, Jack Burris and their daughter, Cherie Burris, at home; two brothers, Pedro Anthony "Tony" Gapan, Wenatchee and Joe Gapan, East Wenatchee; her foster parents, Ken and Jane Ficker, Concrete, WA; foster siblings, Ed & (Susie) Ficker, Cashmere, WA, Dave & (Cindy) Ficker, East Wenatchee, Steve & (Lisa) Ficker, Michigan and Shawna & (Dan) Gibson, Seattle, WA; 17 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one foster brother, Ron Ficker. A Commemoration Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Maiden Lane Chapel, 1621 Maiden Lane, Wenatchee, WA, with Bishop Roger Walters Presiding.
