Anna Mae McClun

In Memory of Anna Mae McClun Anna Mae McClun, 85, a Wenatchee resident for over 16 years, passed away at her home in Columbia Heights on Monday evening, July 18, 2011, following an extended illness. She was born on February 18, 1926 at Taft, California to Chauncey Dow and Ada Mae (Notestine) Hendershott. She was raised in Taft and graduated from Taft High School in 1944. She continued her education at Woodbury College in Los Angeles. Anna Mae married Robert Edwin "Rick" McClun at Taft, California in June of 1949. Together they made a number of moves in California that included Bakersfield, Visalia, and Granada Hills. Anna Mae worked along the way as a Medical Secretary at various hospitals, medical clinics and an orthodontist office. Following her retirement in 1994, she moved to Wenatchee to be near her family in the area. While living in Visalia, California, Anna Mae was very active in the Woman's Club. She was quite an accomplished writer and had many articles published in the Visalia newspaper and other local publications. She had also written an autobiography, poetry and books on both sides of her family history. She was well versed California history and wrote about the San Joaquin Valley and the Gold Rush. Anna Mae is survived by five children: Cheryl Sample, Bellingham WA, Stephanie & her husband Rick Nylander, Bellingham, WA, Michael McClun, Wenatchee, Tracy McClun and his wife Elizabeth Teefy, Minneapolis, MN, and Jody & her husband, Chris Lund, Wenatchee; ten grandchildren: Kevin O'Keefe, Gilroy, CA, Stacy Jackson, San Diego, CA, Keri Giovanelli, Plato, MO, Morgan Ringwood-McClun, Wenatchee, Guy-Henry Mueller, Santa Rosa, CA, Conor McClun, Minneapolis, MN, Maggie McClun, Minneapolis, MN, Cory Lund, Berkeley, CA, Spencer Lund and Drew Lund both of Wenatchee; and seven great grandchildren: Jordan and Connor O'Keefe, Gilroy, CA, Hunter, Adam and Trent Giovanelli of Plato, MO and James and Marissa Bales of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Richard Dunn Hendershott and her grandson, Jason Nylander. A Family gathering will be held at a later date.
