Obituary for Bonnie Schoenwald

Bonnie B. Schoenwald, 86, of Malaga, a 60 year Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away at her home in Malaga on Thursday morning, August 22, 2013.
She was born on December 13, 1926 at Monett, Missouri to the late Charles Richard and Mary Pearl (Wittmeyer) Arnold. She spent her early years growing up in Missouri prior to the family moving to Ellsworth, Kansas, where she spent her elementary school years. As an early teen, she moved with her family to Emmett, Idaho. They later made the move to Boise.
As a young woman, Bonnie, went to stay with her sister, Retha, who was living in Saint Maries, Idaho. She met Donald Roger Schoenwald at a church social, while in Saint Maries and they were later married there on October 26, 1947. They made their first home together in Saint Maries prior to moving to the Indian Hills area of Spokane. They later moved into Spokane and following a brief move to Ellensburg, they again returned to Spokane. In 1953, they made a brief stop in Soap Lake before moving to Wenatchee. They made their home in Wenatchee until moving into the home that they built in Malaga in 1978. They cleared land, started and operated an orchard in Malaga. Bonnie worked diligently as a farm wife, she drove all forms of the farm equipment, including the tractors and driving the fruit trucks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Schoenwald on May 17, 1995. She has since continued to make her home in Malaga.
Her life was her family. She enjoyed chocolate and donuts, writing and poetry and going out into the hills with Donald. She was an aspiring artist, however, she left too little time for it.
She was a member of the Columbia Hills Ward of the Wenatchee Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, East Wenatchee.
She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Michael “Mike” & Fran Schoenwald, Malaga, Terrel & Scott Gardner, Saratoga Springs, Utah, Daniel “Dan” & Ann Schoenwald, Richland, WA, Claudia & Craig Quilter, Malaga, Kevin & Kathy Schoenwald, Wenatchee, Sue & Richard Hutchinson, Renton, WA and Andrew & Karen Schoenwald, Malaga; one sister, Retha Freeze, Lewiston, ID; 30 grandchildren numerous great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Roger Scholenwald, five brothers, Paul, Chuck, Emmett, Jim and Kenny Arnold and three sisters, Edna King, Doris Arnold and infant Marie Arnold and four grandchildren, John, Alicia and Christopher Gardner and Russell Schoenwald.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 667 10th Street N.E., East Wenatchee, WA. There will be a time of visitation in the Relief Society Room at the church beginning at noon. The interment will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, East Wenatchee.
